Due to unique challenges faced by military families, we have a Military Family Life Counselor available Monday-Friday on site. The MFLC provides short term solution focused non diagnostic counseling to military members and their families.
The MFLC observes, participates and engages in activities with children, models behavioral techniques, provides feedback, suggest courses of age appropriate behavioral interventions to enhance coping and behavioral skills, provides outreach to military parents, facilitates psycho educational groups, recommends referrals and is available for military parents to contact for guidance and support.
The MFLC may assist military parents, and military children with the following types of issues: communication, self-esteem/confidence, resolving conflicts, behavioral management techniques, bullying, helping children with angry feelings, sibling and parental relationships and deployment and reintegration issues.
The counselor may also work with military children in settings such as field trips and other school sponsored activities.
The counselor is available to accommodate appointments and meetings/activities after hours on weekends with advance notice. Counseling is free and confidential.
